Red Bay Hospital

Renovations of the 33-bed facility began immediately after its purchase. In 1992 an office building was constructed to house physicians' offices, and new diagnostic equipment was purchased to allow the hospital to offer CT scans, mammography and ultrasound in addition to x-ray. New lab equipment was purchased to eliminate the need to send tests out of the area. In 1993 many specialist began providing services, including OB/GYN, Orthopaedics, ENT, Oncology and Urology. Several local primary physicians have established practices in Red Bay. In 1994 the hospital opened Community Home Care, its home health care department.

In 1996 a new construction and renovation project was completed which added a new Emergency Room & Outpatient Clinic, Day Patient area, Physical Therapy Department and renovated patient rooms, making them more comfortable and private.

Red Bay Hospital is a non-profit hospital owned and operated by the Colbert County-Northwest Alabama Health Care Authority.
